Welcome to our School Website

St. Kerrill's N.S. is a rural school located in a beautiful panoramic setting in North East Galway. We are a co-educational school with three mainstream class teachers and two part-time support teachers. At present, we have 57 pupils on roll. Our school promotes a Catholic ethos and is under the patronage of the Bishop of Clonfert, Bishop Michael Duignan.

St. Kerrill's N.S. provides a warm, welcoming child-centred environment based on kindness, equality and respect for oneself and others. Our professional and dedicated teachers aim to nurture and develop an inquisitive mind and a love of learning to help develop socially conscious, critical thinking young citizens of the future.

Our school has an abundance of outdoor space and facilities for pupils to enjoy including; an adjacent pitch, basketball court, handball wall, magical willow dome, school garden and our most recent addition of an all-weather astroturf pitch.

St. Kerrill's N.S. has enjoyed success in inter-school quizzes, Scór na bPáistí and on the sporting field. Children participate in hurling, camogie, gaelic football, handball, rounders, soccer and athletics. 

Our school is well resourced in I.T., with each classroom utilising Smart Boards and iPads to support learning.

The arts have always featured prominently in our school and are interwoven into school life. Drama, debating, music and song are used extensively.

​We respect and acknowledge the important role that parents play in the education of their children and we are grateful for the positive partnership that exists between home and school. Our Board of Management and active Parent's Association work collaboratively with the school in ensuring that the highest quality and excellence in education is provided for all pupils.

Huge Community effort provides A fantastic playing facility for our school

During the academic school year of 2021/2022, it was decided that our school would endeavour to construct an all-weather playing facility on the school grounds. A huge fundraising effort took place which gave rise to an  overwhelming outpouring of generosity from the local community and extended diaspora. Construction began during the summer holidays, with parents (both past and present) voluntarily giving an enormous amount of time to the project whilst also providing machinery, tools and equipment.

The facility has been in use since September 2022 and is thoroughly enjoyed by our pupils each day. The all weather pitch ensures that children can play and have fun outdoors all year round. This amazing facility is a testament to the strong collective sense of local community that exists in the area and the determination to help continue the evolution and development of our school for future generations.
